1/18-19/08

This is a very special time for our team. It has always been my goal to make it to the highest level possible. I really hoped to be involved with a caliber team like the Battery but I did not think it would happen so soon. Not only are three of the Hawks trying out with a professional team but we may have a scrimmage against them as well. I am truly thankful, not many amateur teams has this chance. I'm hoping this is the start to something great.

The championship game was a classic match against two rival teams. The Tigres were league champions several seasons ago. They have regrouped and formed a very good team. The game was close in the first half, marked with back and forth play. The Hawks dominated the second half with plenty of opportunities to score goals but unable to capitalize. The Hawks had at least 12 corner kicks and 10 shots on goal in the second half. The game was close in the final moments but the Tigres scored on a breakaway with ten minutes left in the match.

The semi-final game turned out to be our best game of the season. Santa Cruz was hot over their penalty shoot out win verses the highly favored champions Cruz Azul. We play a fast pace game and kept on attacking  the whole game. In the end it was too much for them. We won the game 2-0.

Coastal Carolina

We had the privilege of playing two games against NCAA Div. I power, Coastal Carolina University. Considering this team typically plays spring scrimmages against professional teams from the MLS, we considered this a great honor and a wonderful opportunity for our team.

Game #1

The teams were well matched and the game began with both sides making good plays. 0-0 after twenty minutes. But then conditioning started to become a factor, as CC kept pressing and making powerful runs to the goal. The half ended 3-0. In the second half, fatigue became our worst enemy, as CC kept up the attack and scored 4 more goals. We could not muster up any good attempts at the goal. A disappointing loss but the whole experience was tremendous. Being able to be on the field with future professionals and playing at that level is something to be proud. It's what every amateur dreams of, a chance to play at a pro-level.

Game #2
